Tajikistan's national carrier, Somon Air, has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX jet. The aircraft, a 737-8, is part of a two-plane lease from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) and represents the first 737 MAX in Tajikistan. This marks an important milestone for Somon Air's fleet modernization strategy.

The CEO of Somon Air, Abdulkosim Valiev, said that with its central geographic location and improved range capability, this new aircraft gives them the opportunity to open new routes with improved economics due to its fuel efficiency.

The 737-8 will be used for short- and medium-haul routes across Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. With a range of up to 3,500 nautical miles (6,480 km) and a capacity to carry up to 210 passengers depending on configuration, this aircraft is well-suited to Somon Air's expanding network.
