Southwest and United Halt Boeing 737 MAX Deliveries Over Software Issue
Southwest Airlines and United Airlines have informed Boeing that they will not take delivery of new 737 MAX jets that have a recently discovered software issue. The problem affects the flight-management computer and can cause automated vertical navigation to disengage during a missed-approach scenario. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently reviewing the issue.
The decision by both airlines comes as they await further guidance from the FAA. The software glitch has raised concerns about the safety and reliability of the affected aircraft. Boeing has not yet commented on the matter.
