SpaceX Aims to Raise $40 Billion for Nvidia Chip Purchase
SpaceX is reportedly planning a massive financing effort to secure Nvidia chips, according to a Financial Times report. The company, led by Elon Musk, aims to raise $40 billion, split between $10 billion in bank loans and $30 billion in investment-grade debt. Asset manager Apollo Global Management is expected to lead the deal, with bond fund Pimco among potential lenders in discussions to finance the transaction.
The funding effort is intended to support SpaceX's order of Nvidia chips, though the exact details of the purchase remain undisclosed. The transaction is anticipated to close in 2027, according to sources familiar with the matter. Neither SpaceX, Apollo, Nvidia, nor Pimco immediately responded to requests for comment.
