SpaceX is planning to deploy Nvidia's AI computing systems in orbit as early as 2027, according to Elon Musk. This move could potentially extend the use of Nvidia's technology beyond conventional data centers.

Musk made this prediction on X, and it follows a previous statement from SpaceX Chief Financial Officer Bret Johnsen that the company relies on Nvidia chips for its orbital computing effort.

The Vera Rubin platform, which combines 72 graphics processing units with 36 central processing units and other components, will be used in space. This system is expected to be deployed in the initial satellites targeted for launch in 2027, with additional deployments planned for 2028.
