Treasury Yields Pressure Stocks as Oil Prices Soar

Stocks closed modestly lower on Wall Street Tuesday, weighed down by rising long-term Treasury yields.

The S&P 500 slipped 0.2%, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.3% and the Nasdaq composite falling 0.1%.

Nvidia, the market's most influential stock, gave up an early gain to close 0.7% lower, while Broadcom rose 1.6%.

Rising oil prices continue to put pressure on the market, with Brent crude oil settling at $96.16 a barrel after falling 1.7% in the day's trading.
