Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Introduces New Lightsaber Upgrades

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is introducing a new version of a lightsaber hilt theme and additional upgrades to Savi’s Workshop at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. The latest update is the Protection & Defense V3 hilt theme, inspired by the High Republic era of the Jedi Order. This theme features striking white finishes and rich gold detailing, celebrating the optimism and grandeur of the High Republic while honoring those who protected others.

The Protection & Defense hilt theme is the second to receive a V3 update, following Power & Control, which debuted in May 2026. The new design includes mysterious ancient Jedi iconography and reflects a time when the Jedi Order symbolized peace and hope across the galaxy.

Alongside the updated hilt theme, the lightsaber blades are getting technological enhancements. New features include a thermal cutting effect, spinning effect, deflection effects, upgraded audio quality, and smoother blade activation. These improvements create a more immersive experience for builders.

The upgraded lightsabers also allow for color-changing blades when used with rare cracked Kyber crystals. A quick flick of the wrist will switch the blade color from blue to red or vice versa. These upgrades will be available soon at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Resort.
