Swiggy's CREW Platform Expands into Travel Amid Index Exit Concerns
Swiggy has expanded its premium CREW platform to include travel concierge services. The new service offers personalized trip planning, using a mix of artificial intelligence and human agents to handle flight and hotel bookings, real-time itinerary changes, and visa assistance.
The launch marks a strategic shift for the company as it attempts to move beyond food delivery and quick commerce to become a comprehensive lifestyle manager for high-net-worth customers. However, investor sentiment remains cautious due to concerns over the upcoming removal from MSCI Global Standard Indexes on September 7, 2026.
The shares fell more than 2% today as index-tracking funds are expected to follow the benchmark and sell approximately $330 million worth of stock in response to Swiggy's decision to cap foreign shareholding at 49.5%. This move led to its inclusion on the NSDL red-flag list, triggering the index change.
