Take-Two Serves Microsoft and Discord Subpoenas to Catch GTA VI Leaker
Take-Two Interactive has filed federal subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord in an effort to unmask the leaker behind recent Grand Theft Auto VI leaks.
The company is seeking account and device data tied to the Cyberleek persona, who has been posting gameplay clips and images from an older build of the game on various online platforms.
Cyberleek's campaign began on August 18 with two gameplay clips and an image said to show the game's complete Leonida map. The leaks have continued at a pace of nearly one new clip per day, showing protagonist Jason carjacking vehicles, flying a plane, playing basketball, and fighting in the street.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed the leaks indirectly during an August 7 earnings call, stating that preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI are exceeding expectations. He also mentioned that sales are skewing toward the $100 Ultimate Edition over the $80 Standard Edition.
