Take-Two Sues Microsoft and Discord Over Leaked GTA 6 Gameplay
Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Rockstar Games, has filed subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord as part of an investigation into unauthorized leaks of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) gameplay. The leaks were released by a hacker group called CyberLeek, who claimed to have obtained a playable build of the game.
The subpoenas seek information from both companies under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), which aims to identify and stop alleged infringers. According to the documents filed with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the copyrighted material includes audiovisual content, artwork, images, dialogue, or other creative elements.
Multiple videos showcasing GTA 6 gameplay were released this week on various websites, despite being removed and re-posted in new locations. Take-Two is seeking data from Microsoft regarding allegedly infringing content posted on its GitHub developer platform, while Discord is being asked about content shared on a server under multiple accounts.
A spokesperson for Discord stated that the company 'sometimes receives subpoenas related to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). We review and comply with valid subpoenas when we receive them.'
