Target Cuts Prices on 2,000 Products Amid Holiday Promotional Frenzy
Target is cutting prices on nearly 2,000 products across various categories as retailers compete for price-conscious shoppers ahead of the holiday season. The retailer's latest value push includes discounts on apparel, footwear, and home products, with some items now priced at least 20% below last year's levels.
The price reductions come as major retailers ramp up promotions in response to weaker US consumer confidence. According to The Conference Board, consumer confidence fell 6.7 points to 81.9 in September from 88.6 in August, its lowest reading since 2014.
Target's Circle Deal Days will run from October 6 to 7, coinciding with Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days and Walmart's Fall Deals event. Mizuho analyst David Bellinger lowered Walmart's price target to $125 from $130 while maintaining an 'Outperform' rating, citing the early-stage impact of agentic AI on shopping behavior.
