TAROM Welcomes First Boeing 737 MAX 8 Aircraft with Fuel-Efficient Technology
Romania's flag carrier TAROM has welcomed its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, named Mircea Lucescu after a professional Romanian football player. The new jet is part of the airline's modernization and long-term growth strategy, which involves replacing its older 737-700 aircraft with nine new MAX 8s leased from CDB Aviation.
The new plane features advanced technology that reduces fuel use and carbon emissions by around 20%. It will be used on routes from Bucharest to European capitals, providing an enhanced customer experience compared to TAROM's other aircraft.
TAROM CEO Cristian Anghel said the addition of the MAX 8 is a 'pivotal moment' in the airline's transformation process and that fleet renewal and efficient operational capacity are essential components of its restructuring plan.
