Tasmanian Man Jailed Three Years for Sharing Child Abuse Videos Online
A Tasmanian man has been sentenced to three years in jail for sharing dozens of child abuse videos with strangers online.
Ambrose Kevin McDonald, 42, pleaded guilty to 15 Commonwealth offences and two state charges related to possessing and distributing child abuse material.
The Australian Federal Police and Tasmania Police searched his home in March last year after he was flagged by the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation for uploading child abuse material.
McDonald had been chatting with other users on encrypted messaging apps under the name 'Tazmanian Daddy', trading category one videos and discussing the sexual abuse of children.
He sent 76 such videos to 12 separate users between November 2024 and February last year, sometimes without being asked.
