Teams Admins to Get Customizable File Protection Policies

Microsoft Teams is expanding its security features to give administrators more control over file types in chats and channels. The new update will allow admins to customize blocked file extensions based on their organization's security requirements.

The feature, called Weaponizable File Protection, already blocks attachments that use file types commonly associated with malware and other security threats. However, administrators currently cannot change Microsoft's predefined blocked file-type list.

With the upcoming update, admins will be able to create a custom policy for blocking specific file extensions. They can also choose to stick with Microsoft's default recommendations.
