John Ternus is now the CEO of Apple, succeeding Tim Cook after 15 years. The hardware veteran takes over a company valued at $4.6 trillion and with a market capitalization that large.

Ternus previously served as senior vice president of hardware engineering, overseeing work on various Apple products including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Vision Pro. He played a central role in Apple's shift to its own silicon.

Cook praised Ternus, saying he has 'the mind of an engineer, the soul of an innovator, and the heart to lead with integrity and with honor.'

Ternus aims to restore some of the product 'magic' associated with Steve Jobs while pushing Apple further into artificial intelligence. Analysts say hardware innovation and a clearer AI strategy will define his early tenure.
