Ternus Takes Helm of Apple Design Teams as Company Seeks New Path
John Ternus is taking on a more hands-on role in Apple's design teams as CEO, according to Bloomberg. Since Jony Ive's departure in 2019, there hasn't been a true design lead at Apple.
Ternus has been 'immersed' in the industrial design and human interface teams, working directly with them several times a week. This is a change from former CEO Tim Cook, who only visited the studio about once a month.
The company still hasn't filled the position of Chief Design Officer, but Ternus is taking on that role himself. He has also been refilling the design team's roles, promoting junior designers and hiring new talent.
