Theegala and Rai Headline Indian-Origin Golfers at Wyndham Championship

At the Wyndham Championship this week, Indian-origin golfers Sahith Theegala and Aaron Rai will lead their country's contingent.

Theegala, a 28-year-old Californian from Pepperdine University, has made a strong comeback after missing the FedExCup Playoffs in 2025 due to injuries. This season, he has regained his fitness and confidence, earning top results such as tied-8th at The American Express, tied-7th at Farmers Insurance Open, tied-6th at Arnold Palmer Invitational, and tied-10th at Texas Children's Houston Open.

Rai, currently ranked 35th in the FedExCup standings, returns to Sedgefield Country Club where he won the 2024 Wyndham Championship. He also added the PGA Championship title earlier this year, becoming the first British golfer in over a century and the first Indian-origin player to claim a men's major championship.

Both players have qualified for the FedExCup Playoffs, which start with 70 players narrowing down to 50 and finally to 30 for the Tour Championship. Top golfers like Jackson Koivun, Keegan Bradley, Brooks Koepka, Jason Day, and Tony Finau are also competing at the Wyndham Championship.
