Tire Issues Plague Two Planes at Chicago O'Hare International Airport
Two planes at Chicago O'Hare International Airport experienced tire issues within hours of each other on August 18. American Airlines flight AA386, a Boeing 737-800, and United Airlines flight UA739, an Airbus A320-200, both landed safely but had to be met by emergency crews due to the incidents.
The American Airlines plane was flying from New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) when it experienced a 'tire issue' after landing at 1:59 PM local time. The passengers and crew were transported to the terminal by shuttle bus, while the aircraft was removed from service for further inspection.
The United Airlines plane, which had flown in from Omaha (OMA), landed safely but sustained tire damage when exiting the runway. Passengers deplaned via airstairs before being shuttled back to the terminal by bus. Both planes have been taken out of scheduled service for the rest of the day.
