Trachtenberg Trades Monsters for Magic: Director's New Project Inspired by Sleeping Beauty

Dan Trachtenberg is at it again, this time teaming up with Disney to breathe new life into another classic tale. The Prey director has a long history of successful collaborations with the studio, having relaunched the Predator franchise to great acclaim in 2022's Prey. Now, he's set his sights on an original take inspired by Sleeping Beauty.

The untitled project is still in early development, but sources close to the production confirm that Trachtenberg and his producing partner Ben Rosenblatt will be behind the camera, along with Star Wars producer Michelle Rejwan. The story is said to deviate significantly from the original tale, with a unique sensibility that reflects Trachtenberg's distinct vision.

The writing team for this new take consists of Alex Anfanger and Dan Schimpf, who are also known for their work on the Comedy Central series Big Time In Hollywood, FL. EVP Production Jessica Virtue is overseeing the project, with Creative Executive Alina Mota reporting to Disney Live Action president Daria Cercek.
