Walmart Stock Dips as Mizuho Lowers Price Target
Shares of Walmart (NASDAQ:WMT) fell by 2.7% during mid-day trading on Wednesday, following an analyst downgrade from Mizuho. The firm lowered its price target for Walmart from $130 to $125, while maintaining an 'outperform' rating. This move reflects the ongoing competition between retailers and their digital growth strategies.
Walmart's Flipkart business is participating in Google's pilot that allows Indian shoppers to discover and purchase products directly through Gemini and Google AI Mode. This initiative could increase traffic and sales for Walmart ahead of India's festive shopping season. In addition, Walmart is partnering with Meta's Muse AI shopping agent, which may create another customer-acquisition channel.
Walmart has seen its store-fulfilled delivery business grow by approximately 40% year over year, highlighting continued demand for convenience. The retailer also clarified that its digital shelf labels do not use personal data to set individualized prices, addressing potential privacy concerns.
