Trump Blocks Bombardier Sales Unless It Builds in US
US President Donald Trump has made a bold move in his ongoing trade dispute with Canada. He announced on Monday that Canadian business jet maker Bombardier will no longer be allowed to sell its planes in the United States unless it starts manufacturing there.
'NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER IN THE UNITED STATES! Their products aren’t good enough!' Trump said in a post on Truth Social. He claimed that if Bombardier wants access to the US market, it must build its planes in America and stop treating the country like a 'piggybank'.
The move comes amid growing tensions between Washington and Ottawa. Canada is set to introduce counter-tariffs against the United States on Tuesday. The White House has not commented on how Trump plans to enforce his action or block deliveries of Bombardier jets, which have already been approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration.
Aerospace analyst Richard Aboulafia expressed skepticism about Trump's plan, saying he didn't believe any business jet customers would cancel their orders. Aboulafia pointed out that most Bombardier private jets use US-made engines produced by Honeywell Aerospace and GE Aerospace.
