Trump Demands Oil Giants Cut Prices Amid Iran Conflict
U.S. President Donald Trump criticized ExxonMobil and Chevron for making 'too much money' from higher fuel prices, saying they should 'give some of that back to the public.' The oil giants reported strong earnings in their second quarter due to the ongoing conflict with Iran.
'I don't like it,' Trump told reporters on Monday. 'Chevron, too much money. ExxonMobil, too much. Too much money.'
The President has a history of using public pressure to influence corporate behavior, often targeting companies through social media or remarks to reporters. He has pressed automakers to keep production in the U.S., criticized defense contractors over costs, and urged pharmaceutical companies to lower drug prices.
Trump also called out Chevron Chief Executive Mike Wirth for not crediting his administration's efforts to help the oil industry during an appearance on Fox News.
