Trump Lands in Ireland for Two-Day Visit Combining Politics and Golf

US President Donald Trump arrived in Ireland on Saturday for a two-day visit that combines meetings with Irish leaders in Dublin with a trip to his golf resort in Doonbeg. The 80-year-old was greeted at Dublin Airport by several high-ranking officials, including the Minister of Finance and the US Ambassador to Ireland.

Trump's itinerary is divided into two parts: spending the morning in Dublin meeting with President Catherine Connolly and Taoiseach Micheál Martin, and then traveling to Doonbeg in County Clare where his Trump International Golf Links & Hotel is hosting the 2026 Amgen Irish Open.

The Irish police said Trump's Saturday morning engagements are concentrated around Phoenix Park, including Áras an Uachtaráin, Farmleigh House, and the US ambassador's residence. The meeting between Trump and Connolly is particularly notable as she was among those who protested during Trump's 2019 visit to Ireland.

Trump will also address American and Irish business leaders at the US ambassador's residence in Dublin, highlighting the importance of economic ties between the two countries. Ireland has attracted major US companies for decades, making trade, investment, and employment key areas of the bilateral relationship.
