Trump Slams Exxon and Chevron for 'Making Too Much Money' Amid War
President Donald Trump has criticized ExxonMobil Holdings Corp and Chevron Corp for their significant profits during the war in Iran, which he launched in February alongside Israel.
The two US oil companies made a combined $29 billion in the second quarter, or $318 million per day, more than three times their earnings from the same period last year.
Trump stated that the biggest US oil companies are 'making too much money' and urged them to 'give some of that back to the public' by cutting retail petrol prices.
The president claimed that the high oil prices due to the Strait of Hormuz crisis were the main driver for their profits, but also pointed out that earnings surged at their refineries, which sell petrol, diesel, and jet fuel.
