Trump-Touted IndyCar Race Brings Major Sponsors to Nation's Capital
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix IndyCar race is set to take place around Washington, D.C. on Sunday, featuring a unique combination of speed and patriotism.
The event, touted by President Donald Trump, has attracted major companies such as Boeing, SpaceX's Starlink, and Delta Air Lines as new sponsors. These corporations will be showcasing their brands alongside other well-known names like General Motors, Honda, United Airlines, and Amazon.com's AWS unit.
Bud Denker, chair of the 250-mile race and president of Penske Corp, expressed excitement about the event's potential to grow the sport and attract new audiences. 'This is also an opportunity for us to grow our sport and, by showcasing it to these companies that were never part of our sport,' he said.
President Trump will be attending the event, waving the green flag at the start and taking a lap around the course in the presidential limousine. The city expects 140,000 people to attend each day, with a large portion of downtown Washington closing to traffic.
