Trump-Touted IndyCar Race Draws Big Sponsorship Support
The highly anticipated Freedom 250 Grand Prix IndyCar race is set to take place around Washington, D.C. on Sunday, August 21, as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence.
New sponsors for the event include Boeing, SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service, and Delta Air Lines, which will join other major companies such as General Motors, Honda, and Amazon.com's AWS unit in supporting the race.
Penske Corp is running the event, with Bud Denker serving as chair. The IndyCar drivers are expected to hit speeds of 170 miles per hour (274 kph) on historic Pennsylvania Avenue and around the National Archives.
