Trump's July Portfolio Shakeup: Over 1,000 Trades and $79-$270 Million in Buy-Sell Volume
President Donald Trump's financial disclosure for July reveals that his investment accounts executed 1,156 securities transactions, resulting in a total buy-sell volume estimated between $79 million and $270 million. This marks the highest single-month trade count of his second term.
The two largest transactions occurred on July 20, when he sold Microsoft shares valued at up to $25 million and Amazon shares worth between $5 million and $25 million. Three days later, he repurchased smaller amounts of these stocks in a move that appears to be consistent with portfolio rebalancing rather than rebuilding positions.
In addition to the sales of Microsoft and Amazon, Trump's accounts also sold Oracle and Northrop Grumman shares on July 20, while buying Nvidia, Intuit, Marvell Technology, Salesforce, and Church & Dwight stocks. He purchased SpaceX shares worth $15,001 to $50,000 on July 10 and sold them for $1,001 to $15,000 on July 17.
The White House has emphasized that Trump's portfolio is independently managed by a third-party financial institution, with all assets held in discretionary accounts that automatically track recognized indices through computer models. However, external scrutiny continues due to the overlap between high-frequency trading and policy decision dates, which raises concerns about potential conflicts of interest.
