Trust Emerges as Critical Enabler of Digital Remittances in Asia Pacific
A recent study by Visa on digital cross-border payments in Asia Pacific reveals growing adoption and evolving consumer expectations.
The study, which surveyed over 45,000 remittance senders and receivers across 20 markets, found that cross-border money movement is essential for consumers in the region.
Remittances continue to play a crucial role in supporting family members, managing everyday expenses, and navigating financial emergencies. However, trust, security, and transparency are becoming increasingly important factors in shaping payment experiences.
The study highlights significant variations in remittance activity across markets, with the Philippines (45%) and Australia (35%) reporting the highest proportions of consumers sending money abroad. Receiving rates are also highest in the Philippines (45%) and lowest in Japan (5%).
