Tryon Depot Garden Welcomes Pearson's Falls Sign

A historic sign from Pearson's Falls and Glen has found a new home at Tryon Depot Garden, providing information about upcoming events and activities.

The sign was rescued after Hurricane Helene and installed at the garden on the corner of Pacolet and Depot streets.

The Depot Garden has been part of Tryon's landscape for decades, originally serving as a passenger waiting area when trains stopped in the town. The Tryon Garden Club began transforming the space in the 1950s, turning it into a garden featuring mature trees, native plants, flowers, and areas designed to support pollinators.

The garden has carried an official Monarch Waystation designation since its transformation, with milkweed providing food for monarch caterpillars and a pollinator garden attracting bees and other insects. Plant markers throughout the garden identify species and explain their role in the ecosystem.
