Turkish Airlines Locks in 150 Boeing 737 MAX Aircraft Deal
Turkish Airlines has signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase up to 150 737 MAX aircraft. The order consists of 100 firm Boeing 737-8 planes and options for an additional 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, as well as substitution rights for the Boeing 737-10.
The deal, finalized in the presence of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, marks Turkish Airlines' largest ever Boeing single-aisle aircraft order. The agreement will support the airline's fleet expansion strategy and strengthen its short- and medium-haul network.
Turkish Airlines Chairman Prof Murat Şeker stated that the new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will bring greater efficiency and flexibility to operations, supporting the extensive network served from Istanbul. Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope added that the order reflects the trust and shared vision in their long-standing partnership with Turkish Airlines.
The new aircraft will enhance the airline's short- and medium-haul operations on high-demand domestic and international routes. The Boeing 737-8 features improved range, payload flexibility, reduced emissions by 20%, and fuel consumption, aligning with the airline's evolving operational requirements as it expands its fleet and network.
