Turkish Airlines Seals Deal for Up to 150 Boeing Jets Amid Fleet Expansion Plans
Turkish Airlines has finalized an agreement with Boeing for up to 150 aircraft, marking its largest single-aisle order from the manufacturer. The deal includes a firm order for 100 Boeing 737-8 jets and options for 50 additional aircraft. This flexibility will allow Turkish Airlines to adjust fleet capacity according to passenger demand and operational requirements.
The new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft offers a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions compared to its predecessor. The carrier currently operates over 200 Boeing aircraft, including 737 MAX models, and plans to expand its fleet with the latest purchase. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was present during the signing of the agreement.
Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, noted that the order reflects the mutual trust and shared vision between the companies. The partnership aims to support Türkiye's aviation ecosystem through industrial cooperation, including capability development and value creation.
