Twitch Users Can Now Opt Out of AI Content Training

Twitch users can now opt out of having their content used to train Amazon's generative AI models, a feature that has been in place for at least two years. According to an updated support page on Twitch's website, users who want to exclude their streams, VODs, clips, and channel information from being used for AI training must go to the settings at www.twitch.tv/settings/security.

The move comes after a company executive confirmed in 2024 that Amazon was using Twitch content for AI training. In an interview, Twitch's chief monetization officer Mike Minton said, 'Yeah, for sure' when asked if Amazon uses Twitch to train AI models, adding that the practice is done within 'the bounds of user trust within the bounds of privacy regulations.'

When users opt out of AI training, their content will no longer be used in future improvements to Amazon's generative AI content models. The support page notes that opting out may affect the quality of captions and other features on Twitch.
