U.S. Stocks Rally with Dow Jones Leading Gains
U.S. stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with gains in key sectors driving the market upward. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.49%, while the S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite indexes climbed 0.58% and 0.45%, respectively. Leading the Dow's gains were Cisco Systems Inc., which surged 4.54%, Walmart Inc., up 2.04%, and Home Depot Inc., which added 1.97%. Conversely, Salesforce Inc. fell 2.09%, Boeing Co. declined 1.50%, and UnitedHealth Group dropped 0.60%.
The S&P 500 saw significant movers, with Constellation Energy Corp. soaring 12.25%, Corteva Inc. rising 12.23%, and Vistra Corp. gaining 10.77%. On the downside, Seagate Technology PLC tumbled 9.18%, Moderna Inc. lost 7.75%, and Western Digital Corporation fell 6.93%.
The NASDAQ Composite had its own standout performers, including OLB Group Inc., which skyrocketed 115.25%, MOBIX LABS, INC., up 72.28%, and VCI Global Ltd., gaining 54.77%. Notable declines included Armada Acquisition Corp II, down 50.32%, Arrivent Biopharma Inc., which lost 46.98%, and China SXT Pharmaceuticals Inc., falling 39.90%.
Commodities also saw movement, with gold for December delivery rising 0.12% to $4,192.09 per troy ounce. Oil prices increased, with Brent crude up 0.48% to $89.87 per barrel and WTI crude rising 0.52% to $101.10 per barrel. In currency markets, EUR/USD was unchanged at 1.13, while USD/JPY rose 0.15% to 158.14. The U.S. Dollar Index edged up 0.01% to 101.62.
