UCSF Patient Honored at Dreamforce Benefit Concert
Twenty-four-year-old Cait Joseph was honored at Dreamfest, a benefit concert headlined by Gwen Stefani and Usher. Joseph received the 2026 Colin Powell Medal of Courage for her exceptional courage, leadership, and compassion while dealing with multiple complex medical conditions.
The medal is awarded annually by UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals to a patient who demonstrates these qualities. Joseph spent over a decade receiving care at UCSF before becoming an advocate for other patients.
She serves on the hospital's Youth Advisory Council, organizing events for patients to build community and find joy. In 2024, ABC7 highlighted her role in helping organize special hospital proms that allow young patients to enjoy a milestone they might otherwise miss.
The event took place at Oracle Park, where Salesforce's Dreamfest has raised over $130 million for UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals over the past two decades. Joseph was introduced on stage by musician and entrepreneur will.i.am.
