United Airlines Expands Newark Network with 18 New Routes
United Airlines is significantly expanding its operations at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) with 18 new and returning routes scheduled for 2026 and 2027. The airline has already launched four European routes this spring, with an additional 14 routes set to begin between September 2026 and June 2027. These new routes include destinations like Seoul, St. Croix, and several secondary European cities, reflecting United's strategy to diversify beyond major transatlantic hubs.
The expansion highlights a mix of seasonal and year-round services. Twelve of the 18 routes are seasonal, primarily targeting leisure-oriented European destinations. Notably, four European routes introduced in 2026 are confirmed to return in the summer of 2027. The new additions also include four domestic US markets restored in September 2026, underscoring United's commitment to enhancing connectivity from Newark.
Among the standout routes is the daily Boeing 787-9 service to Seoul's Incheon International Airport (ICN), starting in September 2026. Other key destinations include Split, Croatia; Bari, Italy; and Glasgow, Scotland, all set to launch in spring 2026. The airline is deploying a variety of aircraft for these routes, including the 767-300ER, 737 MAX 8, and the A321XLR, which will serve Luxembourg City starting in April 2027.
This expansion aligns with United's broader strategy to tap into thinner and more unusual transatlantic markets, offering passengers more options for travel. The mix of seasonal and year-round services ensures that the airline can cater to both peak travel seasons and consistent demand throughout the year.
