United Airlines Upgrades Guam Fleet with Medevac-Capable 737 MAX 8s
United Airlines is replacing its fleet of Boeing 737-800s in Guam with newer 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The MAX 8s have a unique feature - a row of economy seats that can be collapsed into a medevac stretcher.
The airline's Guam operation is notable for its broad network, serving 15 destinations with up to 12 flights per day. It also operates unusual fifth-freedom flights such as Tokyo-Narita-Ulaanbaatar and Tokyo-Narita-Koror.
United accelerated the transition from Boeing 737-800s to MAX 8s on some routes, including the Island Hopper service that links Guam with Honolulu and multiple stops in Micronesia and the Marshall Islands.
