United Scrubs Denver Flyover Tribute for 9/11 Anniversary

United Airlines recently canceled a planned flyover in Denver on September 11 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The tribute involved a Boeing 777 and four F-16 fighter jets from the Colorado Air National Guard's 120th Fighter Squadron.

The event was intended as a memorial to the crews and employees lost during the attacks, with the timing mirroring the moment United Flight 175 struck the World Trade Center's South Tower at 9:03 a.m. on September 11, 2001.

However, concerns emerged over how the highly visible formation could affect the public, prompting Denver officials to warn residents and emergency services that they might see the unusual sight.

United confirmed on September 9 that it would suspend the aircraft flyover due to 'concerns in the community.'
