Universal Orlando Quietly Works on New Attractions Amidst Official Silence

Universal Orlando is quietly working on several new attractions while keeping mum about them. The only official project announced so far is Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift, a high-octane outdoor roller coaster expected to open in Spring 2027 at Universal Studios Florida.

The ride will put guests in the driver's seat of a 1970 Dodge Charger and feature jaw-dropping maneuvers, including a 170-foot vertical 'spike' nearly 17 stories above the outskirts of CityWalk. Track installation is complete, but testing has only just begun, which may take longer than expected.

Demolition is underway in Islands of Adventure to make way for large-scale redevelopment. The Lost Continent area will be replaced with a new themed area rumored to feature Pokémon. Mythos Restaurant, a fan favorite, will close permanently in March 2027 due to the expansion.

In addition to Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift and the Lost Continent replacement, Universal Orlando is also working on several other projects, including an expansion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Ministry of Magic. The exact details of this new attraction have not been officially announced, but permits filed last year suggest a massive show building, similar in size to those found at Walt Disney World's Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster.
