A US-based bank allegedly laid off its entire Indian customer-service team during a brief Google Meet call, leaving around 80 employees without jobs. According to a Reddit post from an employee who claims to be one of those affected, the meeting lasted only five minutes and was held at 9:30 pm.

The employee said they had been working a 6:30 pm shift and were initially told to work from home that day for 'operational reasons'. However, later that night, they were asked to join a Google Meet with senior management. The employees were then informed of their termination.

Per the employee's account, the company cited performance and output as the reason for the decision, but the employee disputed this explanation, questioning why the entire team was affected.
