US Expands Social Media Checks for I, TN, and TD Visa Applicants
The US has announced that it will expand its online presence review to applicants for I, TN, and TD visas from October 1. This move requires foreign media representatives, professionals under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), and their dependents to make all their social media profiles public.
The expansion covers three new categories in addition to student, worker, and exchange visitor visa applicants who already face online presence reviews. I visas are for foreign media representatives traveling temporarily to the US for work, including journalists and people working in radio, film, and print.
TN visas allow eligible Canadian and Mexican citizens to work temporarily in specified professional occupations under the USMCA. TD visas are for spouses and unmarried minor children accompanying or joining a TN professional in the US.
