US Launches Online Portal for Reporting Visa Fraud
The US State Department has launched an online portal to report suspected visa fraud and misuse. The portal allows individuals to submit tips anonymously, making it easier for authorities to identify and act against those involved in visa violations.
A US visa is considered a privilege, not a right, according to State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott. He urged the public to share information that could help authorities detect and prevent suspected immigration or visa fraud.
The reporting system covers various categories, including tourist and business visas, employment visas, student visas, and immigrant or family-based visas. Users can provide details such as a person's name, passport or visa number, A-Number, petition or receipt number, date of birth, address, contact information, and nationality.
The portal also allows reports to be filed against companies, educational institutions, law firms, and other organizations. Individuals can submit anonymous complaints, but those who provide their name and email address may be contacted by investigators if further information is required.
