US Navy Picks Boeing to Build Sixth-Generation Fighter Jet

The US Navy has selected Boeing to produce its F/A-XX aircraft, a sixth-generation fighter jet. The contract is worth billions of dollars and will replace the Navy's fleet of F/A-18 Super Hornets.

The F/A-XX will feature advancements in open mission systems architecture, advanced mission systems, and operational reach and capacity. Boeing has stated that it is an honor to be selected for this program and that its team is ready to execute it.

The contract is the second selection for 6th-generation fighter work awarded to Boeing, following the award of the US Air Force's F-47 program in 2025. Construction continues on Boeing's secure manufacturing facility in St. Louis, which will be part of the world's most advanced all-digital aerospace design and manufacturing system.
