The United States Ryder Cup team has announced a new qualifying criteria for the 2027 matches in Ireland, which will be based entirely on points earned during the year leading up to the event.

Qualifying will start at The American Express and end with the second postseason event at the BMW Championship at Liberty National in New Jersey. The top six players in points automatically qualify for the team, and Jim Furyk will make six captain's picks after the season-ending Tour Championship.

The new system does not base points on PGA Tour official money, which is a change from previous years. Instead, there is a points distribution list that awards 3,000 points to the winners of majors, 2,850 points to the winner of The Players Championship, and 1,500 points for regular PGA Tour events.
