US Stocks Close Lower as Consumer Sectors Weigh
U.S. stocks closed lower on Tuesday, led by declines in the Consumer Services, Utilities, and Consumer Goods sectors.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.63%, while the S&P 500 index dropped 0.45% and the NASDAQ Composite lost 0.78%.
Among the top performers on the Dow, Chevron Corp rose 2.64% to $217.77, while 3M Company gained 1.64% to $164.67, and Honeywell International Inc increased by 1.02% to $203.44.
The worst performers included Nike Inc, down 2.24% to $36.22, Amazon.com Inc, which declined 2.02% to $248.42, and Walt Disney Company, down 2.00% to $106.42.
