US stock futures jumped on Friday after the government reported that employers unexpectedly cut 23,000 jobs in August. This unexpected drop in job numbers could give the Federal Reserve more time before raising interest rates to combat inflation.

The S&P 500 rose 0.5% and is still hovering around its record set on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also saw a gain of 80 points, or 0.2%, as of 2:04 p.m. Eastern time.

Technology stocks, including Nvidia and Broadcom, were among the top performers, with Nvidia jumping 1.4% and Broadcom rising 1%. This sector is often a key driver of market direction due to its significant market value.
