US Tops Global Cyberattack Target List Amid Rising Geopolitical Tensions
The United States has emerged as the world's most targeted country for cyberattacks, according to Microsoft's Annual Cyber Defense Report. The report highlights the growing scale and sophistication of global cyber threats, with the US accounting for approximately 25.5% of global cyber activity.
This makes it the most targeted country worldwide, followed by Israel at 7.6%, Ukraine at 4.8%, and Taiwan at 3.9%. The figures underscore how geopolitical tensions, military conflicts, and strategic interests are increasingly influencing the global cyber threat landscape.
Microsoft's report also highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in cyber operations. While AI is being used to strengthen cybersecurity defenses, threat actors are exploiting it to make attacks faster, more sophisticated, and harder to detect.
