Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 Returns to Munich After Takeoff Incident

A Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 aircraft returned to Munich Airport on August 15 after experiencing technical issues during takeoff. The flight, bound for Hanoi, circled over the airport for more than two hours in order to burn off excess fuel.

According to Flightradar24, a flight-tracking website, the plane reportedly overran the runway during takeoff, resulting in a large cloud of dust trailing behind it. Video footage from ABC News showed the jet taking off with a significant amount of debris.

The airline stated that the flight crew followed all required procedures and landed safely at Munich Airport. Passengers and cabin crew members were reported to be safe.

Munich Airport was forced to close its north runway after landing, resulting in air traffic being rerouted via the south runway.
