Aston Villa suffered a crushing defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium, losing 4-0 in their Premier League matchup.

The game got off to a disastrous start for the Villans, who conceded an own goal by Victor Lindelof in just the eighth minute. Maxim De Cuyper doubled Brighton's lead in the 18th minute before Jack Hinshelwood scored two quick-fire goals at the hour mark.

Aston Villa's woes were compounded when Joao Gomes was sent off by the referee in the 40th minute, leaving his team with a player disadvantage for the rest of the game. The West Midlands club managed to stem the tide somewhat in the second half but ultimately suffered a disappointing loss.
