On the island of Martha's Vineyard, an unlikely symbol of community and kindness has emerged. An 8-year-old girl named Brooklyn Jackson has created a 'Caterpillar of Kindness,' a chain of rocks that winds down the sidewalk in front of her house at 484 Main Street in Vineyard Haven.

The project began as a family affair, with Brooklyn and her family creating the initial six rocks. However, it quickly gained momentum when neighbors started adding their own contributions, bringing the total to over 200 rocks.

The rocks are adorned with messages of love, gratitude, and encouragement, including 'Love will conquer all' and 'You Rock.' The project has become a beloved fixture in the community, with people stopping by to add their own rocks and take photos. Brooklyn's family hopes that the Caterpillar of Kindness will continue to grow throughout the fall.
