Visa Faces Investigation Over Potential WARN Act Violations
Visa, a global digital payments technology company, is under investigation for potential violations of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. According to a recent notification to the California Employment Development Department, Visa plans to conduct a mass layoff at its facility in Foster City, California on July 31, 2026, affecting around 320 employees.
The WARN Act requires covered employers to provide at least 60 days' prior written notice to employees, their representatives, and certain government parties in the event of a mass layoff or plant closing. If Visa failed to provide adequate notice, it may be liable for back pay and benefits for the time it was in violation.
The investigation is being led by Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a class action law firm that specializes in employment law cases. The firm is seeking to speak with former Visa employees who were laid off without receiving 60 days' notice or severance pay.
