Visa Pays $2.4B for Behavioral Fraud Detection Firm BioCatch
Visa has agreed to pay $2.4 billion for BioCatch, a behavioral fraud detection firm that monitors how bank customers interact with their banking apps and login portals.
The deal is all cash and requires regulatory approval, with Visa expecting it to close by the end of March 2027.
BioCatch's software reads over 3,000 signals as a customer uses a banking app, including keystrokes, touch gestures, and phone orientation.
It looks for account takeovers, scams, money mules, and fake account applications.
The company already has three of the four largest U.S. banks by assets using its software, with Wells Fargo signing on in 2025.
BioCatch protects 760 million users and serves more than 350 banking clients, analyzing 19 billion sessions a month.
